Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott likes his unit's aggressive offensive-minded approach and hopes it carries over to the regular season.
McDermott's improved defense has produced 10 turnovers and scored four defensive touchdowns this preseason — three of those in a 34-27 win over the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.
McDermott says coaches have been placing added emphasis on creating turnovers — and apparently the players are listening. Led by middle linebacker Luke Kuechly, Carolina returned two interceptions and one fumble for TDs against the Ravens.
