Bobcats sign undrafted free agent forward James Southerland from Syracuse

The Charlotte Bobcats announced they've signed undrafted free agent forward James Southerland from Syracuse.

The move was announced Thursday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 6-foot-8 Southerland averaged a career-high 13.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game as a senior last year at Syracuse. He shot 39.8 percent from beyond the 3-point arc and his long-distance shooting gives him a chance at making the Bobcats' opening day roster.

For his career Southerland averaged 7.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game for the Orange.

Southerland set a record with 17 3-pointers in the Big East Tournament this past season and was named to the all-tournament team. However, he wasn't among those selected in the NBA draft.
