TORONTO (Reuters) - Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson has been suspended for two games for a hit from behind that injured Buffalo's Jason Pominville, the NHL said Wednesday.
Hjalmarsson also was fined nearly $38,000 in salary for the hit into the boards during Monday's 4-3 Blackhawks victory in Buffalo, the NHL said in a news release. Pominville suffered a concussion from the hit and left the game on a stretcher.
Hjalmarsson will miss games against Nashville on Wednesday and at Columbus on Friday. He is eligible to return Saturday against the Sabres in Chicago.
