Blackhawks edge Panthers in shootout

Patrick Kane was the lone scorer in the 2.

Marian Hossa and Jonathan Toews netted goals for Chicago, which won its third straight game and fourth in its last five.

Corey Crawford stopped 41-of-43 shots in the win.

Ed Jovanowski tied the game with just over two minutes left in regulation, making it the fourth straight contest in which Florida has scored with less than three minutes left in regulation.

But the Panthers have just one win to show for it.

Stephen Weiss also tallied for Florida, which lost its second consecutive shootout.

Jacob Markstrom made 31 saves.

Down 2-0 late in the second period, Weiss went to the net and poked home a loose puck in the crease to pull Florida within a goal with 1:41 left in the second period.

Jovanowski tied it up with 2:04 remaining in the game. Dmitry Kulikov flicked a shot on net, and Jovanowski deflected it past Crawford.

In the shootout, Crawford fought away shots by Tomas Kopecky, Marcel Goc and Tomas Fleischmann. Markstrom was solid as well, stopping Jonathan Toews and Dave Bolland, but Kane was able to slip a backhand between his legs for the game winner.

After Toews stripped Mike Weaver in his own zone, Andrew Brunette pounced on the puck, skated in and found Toews who positioned himself left of the crease. Toews just got enough of the disk with his one-timer, as it trickled across the goal line to give Chicago a 1-0 lead, 4:04 into the opening period.

Hossa tallied 4:51 into the second period to make it 2-0. Kane maneuvered his way up the left wing and found Hossa for a one-timer from the front of the right circle as he slapped it home.
