Big hats, political T-shirts banned at Olympics

Heading to the London Olympics? Enjoy yourself — but please leave the pets, the fireworks and the big hat behind.
London organizers have published a list of items prohibited at venues for the July 27-Aug. 12 Olympic Games.
Few will be surprised to find "illegal substances," ''offensive weapons" and "stunning devices" on the list.

But other restrictions are causing some raised eyebrows.
The list tells visitors not to bring "large golf-style umbrellas," which could restrict others' view, and "oversized hats," for the same reason.
Also barred are "excessive amounts of food." Noise-hating visitors will be relieved to find "hunting horns, air horns, klaxons, drums, vuvuzelas and whistles" on the banned list.

The list has been out since March, but spectators are now seeing the restrictions as tickets are distributed.
