HOUSTON -- A person familiar with the negotiations says reliever Tony Sipp has agreed to a three-year, $18 million contract to remain with the Houston Astros.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity Thursday because the agreement was pending a physical and had not been announced.

A 32-year-old left-hander, Sipp had a career-best 1.99 ERA in 60 games last season. He was 3-4 with 62 strikeouts in 54 1/3 innings.

Sipp signed with the Astros in May 2014 after he was released by San Diego. He pitched for Arizona in 2013.
