Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is reiterating that he hopes to remain in Minnesota until he retires in response to a report that he reached out to Jerry Jones about playing for the Dallas Cowboys this summer.

Peterson issued a statement on Thursday after ESPN reported that he asked Jones about playing in Dallas. Peterson says it "was a casual conversation between NFL colleagues in which I never indicated I wanted to leave the Vikings. I have always said I understand the NFL is a business but that I would love to retire as a Viking."

The 29-year-old Peterson is in the fourth year of a seven-year contract.

The Vikings say they are focused on 2014 and "Adrian is an integral part of the organization."
