4 Spartans reach double figures in points as San Jose State beats New Orleans 71-64

Louis Garrett had 14 points and San Jose State defeated New Orleans 71-64 Tuesday night.
Alex Brown and D.J. Brown scored 13 apiece for the Spartans (9-6), who have won four of their last five games. Chris Cunningham had 11 points and nine rebounds for San Jose State.
Lovell Cook led the Privateers (3-11) with 20 points. Rarlensee Nelson scored 11.

The Spartans' James Kinney, who entered Tuesday averaging 21.5 points per game, was held to nine on 3-of-18 shooting. He missed all seven of his 3-point tries.
Both teams struggled from behind the 3-point arc, each going 3 of 16.
New Orleans only led in the early going, though San Jose State never owned a lead larger than 11 points. The Privateers got no closer than three points in the second half.

The teams also met in the season opener, with New Orleans winning at home 72-68.
