18-year-old William Byron wins Truck race at Kansas Speedway

Eighteen-year-old William Byron raced to his first Trucks Series victory Friday night when Ben Rhodes got into race leader Johnny Sauter and spun both of them on the final lap at Kansas Speedway.

Byron had built a nearly 5-second lead before Tyler Reddick spun with four laps to go, bunching the field up for a green-white-checkered finish. Byron got shuffled to third behind Sauter and Rhodes on the restart, but he was ready to pounce when the two ahead of him got together in Turn 4.

Matt Crafton rallied after his own spin and wound up second. Daniel Hemric was third and Christopher Bell — Byron's teammate with Kyle Busch Motorsports — finished fourth. Clint Bowyer rounded out the top five in his first Truck Series race in two years.
