Washington Nationals Pitcher Gio Gonzalez Selling FL Home With Indoor-Outdoor Pool

Gio Gonzalez, starting pitcher for the Washington Nationals, is selling his pool-tastic party pad in Southwest Ranches, FL, for $1.69 million.

"He wanted a place where he could park his cars, have friends over, and have some privacy when he's down here [in Florida] for the off-season," says listing agent Renata Jernigan of The Agency Luxe.

From all appearances, the All-Star made a savvy pick. This 7,424-square-foot ranch house sits on nearly five acres and features a pool that starts inside the house, a feature Gonzalez was "really excited about" when he bought the property in 2012, she says.

"It's the first thing you see when you come in -- it's in the living area," Jernigan says. "For a young, single guy in his 20s, that's very attractive."

The pool begins at the back of the marble-floored main level, where it curves under a large, open doorway. Of course, you don't always have to keep it open -- push a button and an automatic door slides down.

The pool is just feet from the kitchen, allowing you to hop out, grab a sandwich, and jump right back into the water. Or you could hop out, head over to the bar for an adult beverage, and return to dip your toes in the water.

Or better yet, you can enjoy an alfresco meal on the pool's built-in-table, which sticks just above the surface.

The six-bedroom, six-full-bathroom house also features a large covered deck for entertaining. There's also a full sport court on the property for hoops or tennis.

Jernigan says Gonzalez may be selling, but he isn't leaving the Sunshine State. While he plays in the nation's capital, the 29-year-old southpaw is a Florida native.

"He's looking for something else and something closer to the water," Jernigan says.

And to incentivize potential buyers, the lefty has lowered the price on the house. It went up for sale in August 2014 at $1.95 million and has had a couple of price cuts since then. But the 20-game winner is ready to play hardball at the current price tag. His agent says they've had a few nibbles on the house, but Gonzalez is balking at low-ball offers.

"Gio has said he's not giving it away," Jernigan says. "He has his mind made up for what he's getting for the house."
