While Christie chases new job, his son scores one with Mets
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}While New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie prepares for a possible run for the White House, his son already has found a new gig.
Andrew Christie, 21, scored a summer internship with the New York Mets, his father's favorite Major League Baseball team.
"The Mets annually take a group of about 20 college students for summer internship opportunities that includes working in many different departments throughout the organization and Andrew Christie is among those students this summers," the team said in a statement.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The governor's office did not respond to a request for comment.
The fact Christie is friends with Mets owner Fred Wilpon, and visited him at an exhibition game in Florida last month, probably didn't hurt his son's chances.
Wilpon contributed $3,400 to Christie's gubernatorial campaign in 2009, but sat on the sidelines during the 2013 state election.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Over the years, Wilpon has donated to numerous candidates for public office, including Al Gore, Anthony Weiner, Barney Frank, Charles Schumer and George W. Bush.
