A Massachusetts man, who lost his leg when he was just 12 years old, used his prostheses to take down a robber in his neighborhood.

Stephen Cornell was looking through the window of a local convenience store in Middleton on Wednesday when he saw a man pointing a gun at the owner. He told The Salem News that he didn’t have time to think, he just reacted.

Initially the 55-year-old thought of tackling the suspect, but he opted to stick out his fake leg instead, and as a result tripped him up. Cornell and the owner of the store were then able to disarm the thief and call the police.

The 23-year-old suspect pleaded not guilty to charges including armed robbery.
