Hailey Baldwin: Demons can possess people

Hailey Baldwin knows a thing or two about religion.

The model, 20, tells the Time UK that she attends Bible study group whenever she’s at her family home in upstate New York. “It’s not the hand-on-the-head, you pass out, weird kind of stuff,” she explained. “I believe in prayer and deliverance in a very intense way.”

She continued, “I don’t think the devil exists as a person, but I do think people can become possessed by demons.”

Baldwin’s stance on religion may not be shocking since she was raised Christian by her mother, Kennya Deodato. Her father, Stephen Baldwin, is a born-again Christian who is also an evangelical youth minister, according to a 2006 ABC interview.

“There’s a Bible verse my mom always made me repeat,” Baldwin recalled. “‘I can do all through Christ as he strengthens me,’ Philippians IV, 13. When I used to perform, I got really nervous, so I’d say it in the wings before I went on. I still say it in my head before I walk a show.”

However, being religious and a model can prove to be difficult.

“I never show my nipples,” she said. “I never want to have a photo with my boobs pushed up next to a Bible verse, but my job is my job.”

She doesn’t want to be judged, either. “There are times when I put something up and I’m like, ‘Please don’t think this is me. This is work.’”
