E! News host and reality TV star Giuliana Rancic revealed Monday she has breast cancer.
Rancic told sister network NBC's "Today" that her attempts to get pregnant -- as detailed in Style Network's "Giuliana & Bill" with her property developer husband, Bill Rancic -- led to more unwelcome news from their doctor.
"Through my attempt to get pregnant for the third time though IVF, we sadly found out that I have early stages of breast cancer. It's been a shock ... A lot of people have been asking, 'We saw that you went and got IVF, so what happened? Are you pregnant?' But sadly, we've had to put that off," Rancic said.

The 36 year old only went for a mammogram after consulting with her doctor about a third round of in vitro fertilization (IVF). The doctor warned that pregnancy could actually accelerate the spread of any potential cancer.
"I will be OK, because I found it early," Rancic said, vowing not to give up on getting pregnant. "Now I truly believe God was looking out for me ... Had I gotten pregnant, a few years down the line I could have been a lot sicker. So this baby saved my life."

Rancic is due to have surgery this week, then six and a half weeks of radiation treatment.
