BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Forward Jimmy Vesey's shortlist of teams includes the Buffalo Sabres, though college hockey's top player is still leaning toward pursuing free agency, the player's agent tells The Associated Press.

Peter Fish provided the update Tuesday, a day after Buffalo acquired Vesey's rights in a trade with Nashville.

Fish intends to meet with the Sabres at the NHL draft in Buffalo this weekend. Though Fish wouldn't rule out anything, he said it would ''be silly'' for Vesey to not test the free agent market on Aug. 15.

The Sabres took a calculated risk in acquiring Vesey, who capped his senior year at Harvard by winning the Hobey Baker Award. In March, the 23-year-old ended contract talks with the Predators by informing the team he was opting to become a free agent.
