A new lightweight bout has been added to the upcoming FOX UFC Fight Night card on Dec. 19 as Michael Johnson will face Nate Diaz in Orlando, Fla.

The bout was announced on FOX Sports Live on Monday night.

The fight will mark almost exactly one year since Diaz last stepped foot in the Octagon after losing a lopsided decision to current UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos last December.

The younger Diaz brother has been out of action since, although he was briefly attached to a fight against Matt Brown at UFC 189 before the bout fell apart.

Now Diaz will look to get back in the win column while also trying to improve upon a rough run where he's gone just 1-3 over his last four fights.

Johnson will challenge Diaz as he also looks to erase a bad memory from his last fight where he lost a very controversial decision to Beneil Dariush at UFC Fight Night in Nashville, Tenn.

Despite winning on virtually every scorecard amassed outside of the three judges sitting cage side, Johnson left Nashville with a loss that simultaneously snapped his four-fight win streak.

Johnson has been itching for a chance to redeem himself, and now he'll fight in a featured bout live on FOX.

Johnson vs. Diaz joins a growing card headed for Orlando, where the main event will feature a lightweight title fight between dos Anjos and current No. 1 contender Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone.
