Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham has used training camp to show flashes of the promise that prompted the team to select him in the second round round of this year's draft.

But, like any rookie, there are facets of his game that need improvement. One area Green-Beckham is working on is eliminating dropped passes, particularly those that occur with a defender in his face.

"I feel like overall, I've been improving and making some plays," Green-Beckham said, via the Tennessean. "But I have to keep my focus all the way through practice and make those contested catches. That's the big thing about me. I just have to make those contested catches -- just look the ball in all the way down until I hit the ground."

The 22-year-old rookie said the dropped passes are correctable with better focus.

"It's just a mind thing," Green-Beckham said. "You just have to know in those contested catches, you have to catch them, squeeze the ball all the way through and protect yourself from having a defender knock the ball out. It's pretty much just a mindset."

Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said when the 6-foot-5, 237-pound Green-Beckham uses his athleticism and ends up with his hands on the ball, he needs to be able to make the catch.

"That's part of being a young player," Whisenhunt said. "Those are things that are learning experiences. He's got to be better at it. That's what he should be really good at."

Still, the coach said on the whole, the young receiver has made a positive impression in camp.

"He's done a lot of great things," Whisenhunt said. "He's made some really good catches."
