Bogota, Colombia – Adrian Mannarino was one of four first- round winners Monday at the inaugural Colombia Open tennis event.
The fifth-seeded Frenchman fought past Colombia's Alejandro Gonzalez, 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 on the hardcourts at Centro de Alto Rendimiento.
Meanwhile, sixth-seeded Santiago Giraldo posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over fellow Colombian Carlos Salamanca.
Also on Day 1, Aussie Matthew Ebden held off Taipei's Jimmy Wang, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 and Italian Matteo Viola outlasted Ukrainian Illya Marchenko, 6-3, 2-6, 6-0.
This week's top seeds are Serb Janko Tipsarevic and 6-foot-8 South African Kevin Anderson.
The winner of this $638,000 tournament will collect $115,200. The former Los Angeles event moved to Bogota this year.
