Ajax closed to within three points of PSV Eindhoven for the top spot in the Eredivisie with a comfortable 2-0 win over RKC Waalwijk on Sunday at the Mandemakers Stadion.

Niklas Moisander got the visitors off to a good start when he found the back of the net just 22 minutes into the contest, and it was 2-0 for Ajax when Christian Eriksen scored five minutes before the intermission.

The hosts had a chance to pull one back in the 60th minute, but Robert Braber missed a penalty kick and Ajax held on for the clean sheet to move to 47 points from 23 matches.

Elsewhere in the Eredivisie on Sunday, Vitesse scored on each side of the interval to earn a 2-0 win over Groningen at the GelreDome. Mike Havenaar opened the scoring for the hosts in the 53rd minute and Wilfred Bony sealed the result 10 minutes later after converting a penalty kick.

First-half goals from Danny Holla and Santi Kolk were enough to lift Den Haag to a 2-1 win over Heerenveen. Sven Kums opened the scoring for Heerenveen just 13 minutes in, but Holla and Kolk struck eight minutes apart for Den Haag.

Denni Avdic scored the match-winner 15 minutes from time as Zwolle slipped past Feyenoord, 3-2.

Zwolle went in front just two minutes in thanks to an own goal by Graziano Pelle, and it was 2-0 for the hosts four minutes later when Darryl Lachman found the net. But Pelle atoned for his earlier blunder and scored in the 33rd and 34th minutes to level the score.

Avdic secured all three points for his side in the 75th minute to lift Zwolle out of the bottom three with 23 points from 23 matches.
