Chris Flores scored a game-high 24 points to lead New Jersey Institute of Technology to a 72-63 nonconference victory over South Carolina State Saturday.

NJIT (3-2) atoned for a 77-74 loss Nov. 18 at South Carolina State. The Highlanders jumped on the Bulldogs early, using a 13-0 run to take a 34-20 halftime lead. NJIT led for all but 31 seconds of the game.

Flores hit 7 of 19 shots from the floor, including 3 of 8 3-point attempts. Flores was 7 for 10 at the foul line, giving NJIT a decisive edge. The Highlanders were 19 for 31 at the stripe, the Bulldogs (3-3) 5 for 8.

NJIT outrebounded South Carolina State 39-25, including 16-6 on the offensive glass. Ryan Woods and Ky Howard scored 10 apiece for the Highlanders.

Khalif Toombs, who scored 30 points against NJIT on Nov. 18, had 20 this time. Matthew Hezekiah added 18.
