Buffalo Sabres forward Marcus Foligno has been named the National Hockey League's top rookie for the month of March.

Recalled from the American Hockey League on March 10, Foligno distinguished himself by posting 11 points (6G, 5A) in 12 games and was a plus-10 for the Northeast Division club, which is still battling for a playoff berth.

The 20-year-old Buffalo native recorded a pair of two-goal games and had three multi-point efforts.

Foligno, the son of former Sabre Mike Foligno, was a fourth-round pick of Buffalo in the 2009 draft.
