Chicago, IL – The Chicago Cubs have announced the coaching year manager Dale Sveum.
Chris Bosio has been named the pitching coach and Dave McKay will handle the first base coaching duties, while Jamie Quirk will take over for Pat Listach as bench coach. Listach will remain on staff as the third base coach.
In addition, hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo and bullpen coach Lester Strode will remain in their roles.
Bosio, a pitcher for 11 big league seasons, will take over a major league staff for the third time. He was pitching coach for Tampa Bay in 2003 and Milwaukee in 2009. Last year, he was pitching coach for Milwaukee's Triple-A affiliate in Nashville.
McKay, a major league infielder for parts of eight seasons, spent the past 16 years as first base coach for St. Louis under Tony La Russa, who announced his retirement after the Cardinals won the 2011 World Series. It will be his 27th season as a big league coach.
Quirk, a former big league catcher for 18 years, also has 18 years of big league coaching experience. He was bench coach for Kansas City from 1996-2001 and Colorado from 2003-08, while spending the past two seasons as bullpen coach for Houston.
Listach was bench coach for one season with the Cubs under former manager Mike Quade after spending two years as third base coach in Washington. Jaramillo will return for a third season with the Cubs, while Strode will start his 24th season in the Chicago organization and his sixth as the team's bullpen coach.
