Romney returns to state where it all began

NEWINGTON, N.H. -- Mitt Romney kicked-off his final weekend of campaigning in the state where it all began, offering an optimistic vision for the next four years.Continuing his final argument, which begun Friday in Wisconsin, the Republican presidential nominee contrasted his plan with that of President Obama’s, noting the president has failed to follow through on any of his pledges. “President Obama came into office with so many promises and he’s fallen so far short,” Romney told a crowd of about 1,000 supporters who braved the chilly temperatures. “Talk is cheap. A record is real and takes hard work.“I actually have a record of accomplishment and that’s why I’m running,” Romney continued. “I started a business. I actually have turned around another business and helped turn around the Olympics. And you may have heard I was governor next door, in Massachusetts.” New Hampshire holds sentimental value for the former Massachusetts governor –Romney launched his bid here in June of 2011, won his first convincing victory of the primary season, and held his centennial town-hall with running mate Paul Ryan at St Anselm’s college.Coupled with its close proximity to the state he governed and his family summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee, victory here would carry more emotional weight than its four electoral votes.The latest polls show the Granite State remains a toss-up. Romney has closed the margin significantly since the beginning of October, but still trails slightly to President Obama.Monday evening, Romney will return to make one final push, holding his final campaign rally in Manchester before voters take to the polls.
