The one-year contract Nick Fairley signed in the offseason is essentially a make-it-or-break-it deal.

Fairley's 2014 season was cut short due to injury and the Lions chose to let him walk, despite Ndamukong Suh signing with the Miami Dolphins.

However, there are concerns surrounding Fairley. The Auburn standout has yet to play a full season in the league and has dealt with weight issues in the past.

From 2012-13, though, he was a force for the Lions, playing in 28 games and totaling 11.5 sacks.

He joins a formidable Rams front line that is arguably the best in the league with Robert Quinn, Aaron Donald, Chris Long and Michael Brockers.

There's no question Fairley can contribute, but is he part of the team's long-term plans?

He is entering the prime of his career and could perhaps be in line for one last multi-year contract if his 2015 play warrants it.
