Twins place P Nolasco on DL

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Minnesota Twins placed right-handed starter Ricky Nolasco on the disabled list with elbow inflammation, manager Paul Molitor said.

In his first start of the season, Nolasco was charged with six runs on six hits and four walks in three-plus innings before informing the training staff about his soreness.

After the Twins ordered an MRI for the injured starter, Molitor stated the results were clean and the team expects him back in action immediately when he is eligible to return.

Nolasco, 32, missed the end of 2014 after undergoing knee surgery. In the first season of a four-year, $49-million contract, Nolasco was just 6-12 with a 5.38 ERA in 2014.

Trevor May is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Rochester to start in Nolasco's place in Monday's home opener.
