Malcolm Brogdon scored a career-high 20 points to lead No. 8 Virginia to a 64-56 win over LaSalle in the second semifinal of the Barclays Center Classic on Friday night.

Anthony Gill added 16 for Virginia, which improved to 6-0 for the first time since the 2004-05 season. The Cavaliers haven't allowed an opponent to score more than 55 points this season. The Cavaliers led wire-to-wire. Virginia opened the game with a 13-2 run in the first 7:57, and had a 37-19 advantage at halftime.

But the Explorers challenged the Atlantic Coast Conference power in the second half, as they cut the lead to 57-51 with 1:45 left before Virginia pulled away.

The win was Virginia's first against LaSalle in three meetings between the programs. The last time the ACC and Atlantic-10 schools met, LaSalle topped Virginia 67-59 on Dec. 27, 1957.

Jordan Price had 20 for LaSalle (4-1).
