ABC News anchor Bob Woodruff to report for network partner ESPN during World Cup in Brazil

NEW YORK – ABC News anchor Bob Woodruff will report for network partner ESPN during the World Cup that starts next month in Brazil.

ESPN said Friday that Woodruff will cover cultural and social stories during his first World Cup assignment. He is a regular contributor to ESPN's newsmagazine show "E:60."

Woodruff joined ABC News in 1996 and was made co-anchor of ABC World News Tonight in 2005. He was injured in 2006 by a roadside bomb while covering the war in Iraq.

Off-the-field issues will be in the spotlight in Brazil, and ESPN President John Skipper says the network will cover them thoroughly. Large public protests broke out at the start of a World Cup warm-up tournament last year.
