Kissimmee, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Astros released veteran infielder Cesar Izturis among four roster moves announced by the team on Monday.

The 13-year major leaguer was attempting to earn a spot as a non-roster invitee and hit .269 with three RBI in 26 at-bats this spring. Izturis spent last season with the Cincinnati Reds, batting .209 with 11 RBI in 63 games.

Houston also optioned reliever Josh Zeid to Triple-A Oklahoma City and reassigned outfielder Adron Chambers and catcher Rene Garcia to minor league camp.

Zeid pitched in 25 games as a rookie with the Astros last season, going 0-1 with a 3.90 ERA and one save.
