Miami running back Duke Johnson broke his right ankle in Saturday night's loss to Florida State and will miss the remainder of the season, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press.

Johnson was flying home with his teammates early Sunday morning and will have surgery in the coming days, said the person, speaking on condition of anonymity because the school had yet to publicly release any injury information.

Johnson was hurt in the third quarter of No. 7 Miami's 41-14 loss to the third-ranked Seminoles. He was stopped on a fourth-down carry and his right leg was bent awkwardly as a pile of bodies landed atop him.

Johnson ran for 97 yards against the Seminoles, giving him 920 in eight games this season.
