The Detroit Red Wings and restricted free agent defenseman Brendan Smith agreed to a two-year contract Tuesday.

The 24-year-old totaled eight points in 34 regular-season games for the Wings in 2013, but contributed two goals and five points in 14 postseason appearances.

A late first-round pick of Detroit in the 2007 draft, Smith has totaled one goal and 14 assists in 48 contests over the last two seasons.
