Monroe, LA – Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Jason Peters was reportedly arrested early Wednesday morning after drag racing and resisting an officer by flight.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Monroe News-Star, Peters' white Camaro was seen at a red light next to a blue sedan. When the light turned green, the two cars accelerated and appeared to be racing.
The arresting officer then activated his emergency lights and attempted to pull over the two vehicles. The blue sedan stopped immediately, but Peters sped off and exceeded speeds of 100 miles per hour with the officer in pursuit.
Peters eventually came to a stop and was handcuffed, arrested and transported to Ouachita Correctional Center, where he was booked on charges of drag racing and resisting by flight.
Peters was also arrested in March of 2011 in Louisiana for disturbing the peace.
The Eagles released the following statement: "We are aware of the reports that Jason Peters was arrested this morning in Louisiana. We have been in contact with Jason and due to the legal nature of this matter, we will not have any further comment at this point."
Peters, a five-time Pro Bowler, missed all of last season recovering from two tears in the same Achilles tendon.
