The Colorado Rapids announced Friday that the club has signed Dillon Serna to a Homegrown Player contract.

Serna joins the club as a product of the Rapids Academy on the back of a standout season at the University of Akron. The 18-year-old also has experience with the United States U-17 national team.

"We're thrilled that Dillon will be joining our first team, having proven in our youth system, the NCAA, and with the U.S. national teams that he is ready for this step," said Rapids Technical Director Paul Bravo. "His dedication and hard work, as well as the effort of all the Rapids coaches who have spent time with him over the last several years, have paid off with this well-deserved opportunity."

Serna, who can occupy several different positions, joins Colorado as the club's third Homegrown Player.
