Levante moved to within one point of a place in the top four on Saturday as the club secured a 3-1 home win against 10-man Athletic Bilbao.

Aritz Aduriz scored on a header from Andoni Iraola's cross after only six minutes to put Athletic into the lead, but Levante's Christian Lell hammered home the equalizer 20 minutes later to level the match.

The visitors then found themselves down to 10 men shortly before halftime when Aymeric Laporte received a red card for bringing down Roger as the striker attempted to break through on goal.

Levante took advantage right away and went in front at the break when Vicente Iborra scored on a close-range header following a flick from David Navarro.

Nabil El Zhar wrapped up the points 20 minutes from time with a bullet from outside the area that found the bottom left corner of the net, giving Levante three wins from its last five games.

Deportivo 1, Malaga 0

Madrid, Spain - Malaga missed a chance to move into third place on Saturday as the club sustained a 1-0 defeat at last-place Deportivo.

Domingos Paciencia took charge of Deportivo for the first time on Saturday, and after Pizzi's free kick struck the post in the opening half, he watched the Portuguese winger put his team in front in the 57th minute.

Pizzi took advantage of a poor ball from Jesus Gamez, and after beating a defender, he fired a shot just under the crossbar that beat goalkeeper Willy Caballero.

Deportivo moves off the bottom of the table with the result, while Malaga stays in fourth place.

Sevilla 1, Osasuna 0

Seville, Spain - Emir Spahic's goal eight minutes from time helped Sevilla snap a five-game winless streak with a 1-0 triumph over Osasuna at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Saturday.

Both sides entered the match in poor form, and through 80 minutes, it looked like neither side would take much away from the contest.

However, a corner kick in the 82nd minute for Sevilla led to the only goal as Jose Antonio Reyes flicked the ball on at the near post and Spahic stabbed it home from a few yards.
