The Texas Rangers announced Wednesday that Mitch Moreland underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right wrist.

Dr. Tom Graham performed the procedure, during which Moreland had the pisiform bone removed. Moreland, who is expected to fully recover in 8-to-12 weeks, was bothered by soreness in the wrist last season.

In 134 regular-season games for Texas in 2011, he batted .259 with 16 home runs and 51 RBI. He started 89 games at first base, 28 in right field and seven as the designated hitter.

Moreland hit .103 in the playoffs, with two of his three hits going for home runs.
