The last time came in 2008, when Washington won Game 6 at Philadelphia on April 21, only to lose at home the next night. Before that, It hadn't happened since 2003, when Toronto-Philadelphia and Minnesota-Colorado in the first round and Minnesota-Vancouver in the second round all were decided in seven games, with the last two on consecutive days. Philadelphia eliminated Toronto in its series, while Minnesota won at Colorado and Vancouver.

Before that, it hadn't happened since the 1950 Final, when Detroit hosted the New York Rangers in Games 6 and 7 on April 22-23 at the Olympia, winning both games to take the Stanley Cup.
