How often do you get the chance to have the well-known architect who designed your home as your neighbor? This stunning 3,072-square-foot home, on the market for $1.15 million, was designed by architect Michael Johnson, who can see the property from his own nearby home that he designed more than a quarter-century ago.

This three-bedroom home sits on 4.72 acres nestled in the low-rolling hills of Cave Creek, AZ, and offers desert and mountain views from each interior space. There are two master suites, each with its own master bathroom.

Built in 2007, the home known locally as the Ellsworth Residence spans a dry creek bed that's 80 feet wide and 30 feet deep.

"When Johnson designs, he demands absolute control of the project, including the furnishings and artwork, to ensure that the interiors are in harmony with the building envelope," wrote the Design Within Reach blog in 2013. It lauded the home for "for its bold simplicity, balanced proportions and sleek industrial surfaces."

The blog also quoted Johnson as saying, "One percent of buildings are architecture. The rest are just stuff." This home, listed by Johnathon De Young, is definitely not just stuff.
