We've seen some bad paint jobs on houses before, but this one might be the worst.
Rian White of East Hampton, N.Y., did some rabble rousing when he asked anyone and everyone for "help" painting his house. In a move that angered neighbors, White put up a sign outside of his home, reading: "Help paint a starving artists [sic] house. Throw a pint." His house -- windows and glass door included -- is now covered in splashes of paint (pictured above).
"It degrades the whole neighborhood," Tim Lee, White's neighbor, told East Hampton Patch. "Everybody's property value goes down. Would you buy a house next to him?"
Officials have issued notices of violation to White over the state of his property dating back to February. White didn't respond, and he is now due in court.
White went through a similar saga in 2009. After years of court battles between 2002 and 2009, town officials sent in a crew to clean up his yard, which was full of old boats, cars, tires and other knick-knacks. The town fined White $5,000 for the clean up.
Though it appears that White isn't being malicious, he does remind us of some other stories of the proverbial "neighbor from hell." Last year, AOL Real Estate reported on a neighbor trying to sabotage the sale of a home next door by displaying all of the reasons he'd make a terrible neighbor. And in June, a woman was sentenced to 90 days in jail for harassing her neighbors despite a restraining order.
