A British pub singer has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of racism for singing the disco hit "Kung Fu Fighting" as two Chinese people walked past.

Simon Ledger, 34, was arrested after offending the couple as they walked by the Driftwood Beach Bar in Sandown, Isle of Wight, on Sunday, The Sun reports.

Ledger regularly performs the 1974 disco smash, originally performed by Carl Douglas, at the seaside bar.

"We were performing 'Kung Fu Fighting,' as we do during all our sets," Ledger told the newspaper. "People of all races were loving it. Chinese people have never been offended by it before."

Ledger will be questioned by police later Wednesday after he is granted bail.

"I thought it was a joke but they were serious," Ledger continued. "They seemed pretty amazed but said the law is the law and it was their duty. It's political correctness gone potty."

A police spokesman told the newspaper that a 32-year-old man "of Chinese origin" claimed he was subjected to racial abuse. Investigators are now probing allegations of "racially-aggravated harassment," he said.
