Lionel Messi will be headed to the United States this June for the Copa America, and he has a side trip in mind when Argentina plays Chile in the Bay Area early in the month: Messi wants to meet two-time NBA MVP Steph Curry.

The footballer and Curry have already exchanged signed jerseys, but this could be the first opportunity for two of the world's best athletes to actually meet. And while Messi and Curry play two starkly different sports, Messi told SI that he sees similarities between their styles of play.

Via SI.com:

"If you watch Curry play -- or, just as revealing, warm up before the game -- you notice his relationship with the ball. It's like his body and mind are always on the same wavelength with el balón. I try to have that connection in my sport too."

Messi's comments were part of a larger piece told to Grant Wahl on the soccer star's excitement for his upcoming trip to the United States. The summer fun will not end at the Copa America, however. Both Messi and Curry -- should they stay healthy -- will likely represent their respective countries in the Olympic Games in Rio in August.
