The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to terms on a new one-year contract with defenseman Keaton Ellerby.

Ellerby played in 44 games for the Kings and Florida Panthers last season. All three of his assists came during his 35-game stint with the Kings. He also appeared in five postseason games for Los Angeles.

The 24-year-old native of Strathmore, Alberta was acquired by the Kings from Florida for a fifth-round selection in the 2013 draft on Feb. 8, 2013.

In 160 career NHL games with the Kings and Panthers, Ellerby has two goals and 18 assists to go along with 86 penalty minutes. He was originally drafted by the Panthers with the 10th overall pick in the 2007 draft.
