Alex Steen's overtime goal could be a lot more than a game-changer for the St. Louis Blues. However fluky the finish, they know they can beat the Los Angeles Kings.

The defending Stanley Cup champions swept the Blues in the second round last year and had 3-0 series leads against every opponent. Now they must come from behind in Game 2 Thursday night. Coach Darryl Sutter is confident that goaltender Jonathan Quick, whose play got the Kings to overtime, will shake off his crucial giveaway.

Coach Ken Hitchcock invoked the hockey gods after Steen picked Quick's pocket behind the net and scored short-handed to stun Los Angeles 2-1 in the series opener Tuesday night.
