Palermo decided to part ways with manager Gian Piero Gasperini on Monday with the club sitting tied with Siena at the bottom of the Serie A table.

The announcement comes one day after Palermo extended its winless streak in league play to nine games with a 2-1 home defeat to Atalanta.

Palermo has also crashed out of the Coppa Italia at the hands of Serie B side Hellas Verona.

Gasperini took over at Palermo in September for Giuseppe Sannino, and he leaves the side four points from safety.
