The Colorado Rapids have landed the rights to midfielder Nick LaBrocca, who arrives in Colorado from Chivas USA in exchange for midfielder Eric Avila.

LaBrocca is currently out of contract, meaning that the Rapids can now work on a new deal with the player the club drafted in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft.

The 28-year-old LaBrocca featured in 61 games for the Rapids from 2007-09 before moving to Toronto FC in a trade for Marvell Wynne.

In 2011, LaBrocca made the switch to Chivas USA and netted eight goals in 34 matches while being named to the MLS All-Star team.

Avila, 25, was acquired by Colorado in the 2012 MLS Re-Entry Draft from Toronto, where he spent two seasons after joining from FC Dallas.
