Claudio Marchisio scored the sixth goal of his breakthrough season and Arturo Vidal converted a controversial penalty as Juventus beat Cesena 2-0 Sunday to reclaim the Italian league lead.

Cesena's 42-year-old goalkeeper, Francesco Antonioli, kept Juventus in check at the Turin club's new stadium until Marchisio fired in a 72nd-minute shot between two defenders with his weaker left foot.

In the 80th, Antonioli punched away a cross and then collided with Juventus forward Emanuele Giaccherini, receiving a red card that set up a penalty for Vidal despite vehement protests from Cesena.

Cesena had already used all three of its substitutions, so defender Guillerme Rodriguez had to put on Antonioli's jersey and gloves and step in goal for Vidal's penalty. Rodriguez moved to his right and Vidal easily knocked the ball into the other corner.

Despite missing suspended midfielder Andrea Pirlo, Juventus remained the only unbeaten team in Serie A and moved two points ahead of AC Milan and Udinese.

AC Milan had provisionally moved top with a 2-0 win at Genoa on Friday, while Udinese edged out struggling Inter Milan 1-0 Saturday at the San Siro.

"This result shows that we're maturing," Juventus manager Antonio Conte said. "I looked at the statistics and we had 70 percent of the ball possession and 21 shots. We're improving day by day."

The only negative moment for Juve came when captain Alessandro Del Piero was carried off in the 62nd after a kick to the face from defender Marco Rossi that opened a wound above his left eye that requiring eight stitches.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina beat eight-man Roma 3-0 after goals from Stevan Jovetic, Alessandro Gamberini and Santiago Silva.

Fiorentina players wore black armbands and a minute of silence was observed before the match in honor of Brazil great Socrates, who died earlier Sunday at the age of 57. Socrates played for Fiorentina in the 1984-85 season, scoring six goals.

Bologna beat Siena 1-0 as Marco Di Vaio scored in the 28th following a heel pass from Alessandro Diamanti. Chievo Verona was held to a scoreless draw at home by Atalanta, Cagliari won 1-0 at Catania and Palermo earned a scoreless draw at Parma. Lazio faces Novara on Monday.

PARIS (AP) — Brazilian winger Nene scored one goal and created another to help Paris Saint-Germain beat Auxerre 3-2 and climb into second place in the French league and take some pressure off coach Antoine Kombouare.

PSG had lost three and drawn one of its last four games, and Sunday's game at Parc des Princes was widely considered to be Kombouare's last chance to salvage his job — even though PSG is only three points behind leader Montpellier.

The talk this week had been when, not if, Kombouare will go, with the club's wealthy Qatari backers reportedly seeking a bigger name.

All the goals came in a frantic second half. After Kenya striker Dennis Oliech canceled out Christophe Jallet's opening goal, Nene set up Menez in the 76th minute and scored a penalty five minutes later.

After 16 matches, Montpellier has 36 points, while PSG has 33 and third-place Lille has 31.

In Sunday's other matches, Bordeaux beat Nancy 2-0 and fourth-place Lyon defeated Toulouse 3-2.

LONDON (AP) — Martin O'Neill got an idea of the problems he has to deal with at Sunderland when he watched his new team lose 2-1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Sunday.

With Kieran Richardson having put Sunderland ahead shortly after halftime, the former Celtic and Aston Villa coach watched from the stands as his club missed a chance for 2-0 when goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey saved a penalty from Sebastian Larsson.

Steven Fletcher equalized immediately from the resulting counterattack and scored again with nine minutes left to lift his team above Sunderland in the standings.

O'Neill will officially succeed the fired Steve Bruce as manager on Monday, with the side he supported as a boy just one point and one place above the bottom three.

With all the high-flying clubs having played Saturday — partly to give Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal an extra day rest before their midweek Champions League assignments — Stoke won 1-0 at Everton in Sunday's other game.

Leader City stayed five points ahead of United with a 5-1 win over Norwich, while United won 1-0 at Aston Villa. Chelsea won 3-0 at Newcastle, Arsenal won 4-0 at Wigan and third-place Tottenham beat Bolton 3-0.

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Real Sociedad scored late to snatch victory for a second straight week, beating Malaga 3-2 in the Spanish league on Sunday.

With Malaga on the verge of a fourth victory in five games, Carlos Vela equalized with an acrobatic bicycle kick in the 89th. Substitute Diego Ifran then beat Malaga defender Martin Demichelis and coolly shot past goalkeeper Willy Caballero for an injury-time winner.

Sociedad led in the 10th when Imanol Agirretxe's header hit the crossbar and bounced off Demichelis into the net. Malaga striker Jose Rondon headed an equalizer in the 21st and Malaga surged ahead when Sebastian Fernandez stole the ball from defender Mikel Gonzalez and scored for 2-1 in the 59th.

Sociedad also won in stoppage time last week when Inigo Martinez's blast from halfway secured a 3-2 victory over Real Betis.

Also Sunday, Colombia striker Radamel Falcao scored one goal and set up another to lead Atletico Madrid to a 3-1 win over Rayo Vallecano.

Falcao played Gabi Fernandez through on the right side of the area and the midfielder chipped over oncoming goalkeeper David Cobeno in the 25th.

"Of course for a striker it is good to score," said Falcao. "But I can also bring other things to the team like my participation in the first goal."

Atletico remained undefeated at Vicente Calderon stadium in eight league games this season to stay in the top half of the table.

Osasuna beat Real Betis 2-1, Mallorca was tied 1-1 by visiting Athletic Bilbao and Grenada beat visiting Zaragoza 1-0. Sevilla hosts Getafe on Monday to close round 14.

BERLIN (AP) — Hamburger SV striker Jose Paulo Guerrero scored in a 2-0 win over Nuremberg Sunday to stretch the club's unbeaten run in the Bundesliga to seven games.

Guerrero scored in the 24th minute, when he beat Timmy Simons to a long ball from goalkeeper Jaroslav Drobny before lifting his shot over Raphael Schaefer in the Nuremberg goal from a tight angle.

Nuremberg players complained that Guerrero pulled Simons back before scoring.

"He's not looking at the ball, he's only looking at me," Simons said. "It shouldn't happen. A foul is a foul. It's obvious."

Marcell Jansen sealed the win in the 62nd, when Goekhan Toere combined with Ivo Ilicevic to elude three Nuremberg defenders before playing the Hamburg midfielder through. Jansen had only Schaefer to beat.

After two wins in a row, Hamburg climbs three points above the relegation zone to 11th, while Nuremberg drops to 15th, one point above the playoff spot.

Schalke hosted Augsburg later Sunday.

On Saturday, Bayern Munich took advantage of Borussia Dortmund's 1-1 draw at Borussia Moenchengladbach by beating Werder Bremen 4-1 to reclaim the Bundesliga lead by one point.

Defensive errors proved costly for PSV at Feyenoord. Sekou Cisse dispossessed Ola Toivonen in the 40th before exchanging passes and scoring with a firm shot inside the area. Ruben Schaken stole the ball from Jetro Willems and beat goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson with an angled shot from close range.

GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) — Celtic kept up the pressure on defending champion Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premier League on Sunday with a 1-0 win at Dundee United.

Gary Hooper scored his 12th goal of the season to keep Celtic within four points of its fierce city rival.

But Celtic could easily have won by a bigger margin at Tannadice, with Anthony Stokes just failing to connect to a cross from Georgios Samaras and then heading over the bar before Hooper scored in the 12th minute.

James Forrest set up Hooper inside the area and the striker hit a low shot past goalkeeper Dusan Pernis from 16 meters and into the far corner.

Rangers beat Dunfermline 2-1 on Saturday.
