CALGARY - The Calgary Flames are bringing Brendan Morrison back for another season.

The Flames re-signed the 35-year-old forward to a US$1.25-million, one-year deal Friday.

Morrison's season ended in March with a knee injury that will keep out of action through the start of the 2011-12 campaign.

The five-foot-11, 185-pound veteran had nine goals and 34 assists in 66 games with Calgary last season.

Flames general manager Jay Feaster said although Morrison is going through rehab from knee surgery, it was important for the team to sign him.

"When he is cleared for game action we are confident he will make a significant impact to our success," Feaster said in a statement. "We are a better and deeper team with Brendan back in the fold."

Morrison has 196 goals and 394 assists in 895 career games with New Jersey, Vancouver, Anaheim, Dallas, Washington and Calgary.
