VANCOUVER (Reuters) - The Vancouver Canucks have given forward Ryan Kesler a six-year extension to his current deal, putting him under contract through the 2015-16 season, the team said on Friday.
The deal was worth $30 million, Vancouver media reported.
"Ryan has showcased his ability to perform under extreme pressure and we are looking forward to continuing to see Ryan develop into one of the league's premier players," Canucks general manager Mike Gillis said in a statement on the team's website (http://canucks.nhl.com).
Kesler, 25, is in his sixth season with Vancouver. He already has set career highs in assists (45), points (66), power-play goals (12) and game-winners (four) with 11 games remaining in the regular season.
