Former University of Maryland football coach Randy Edsall is hoping to do better in the real estate market than he did on the gridiron during his four-and-a-half seasons leading the Terrapins.

He's put his home in Fulton, MD, on the market for $975,000. He bought the home for $829,000 in 2011, after assuming the head football job at Maryland.

The home, which has five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, sits on a 6,720-square-foot lot in the Maple Lawn area of Fulton. Wendy Slaughter is the listing agent. The Colonial features a home theater, deck with retractable awning, chef's kitchen, office, and tray ceilings. It also backs up to a forested area for maximum privacy.

Edsall likely savored the privacy after his ugly dismissal from Maryland in October. News of his firing leaked days before the actual announcement, leaving him in a limbo that might have led to his decision to storm out of his final postgame press conference.

He came to Maryland from the University of Connecticut, landing a six-year, $10 million contract. His dismissal occurred in the fifth year of that deal. He also had received a three-year extension in July but only $500,000 of the $7.5 million extension money was guaranteed.

Edsall was known for improving his players' academic performance while at Maryland, but his record of 22-34 wasn't enough to save his job, no matter how well his players did in the classroom.

"From Day 1, the marriage between Randy Edsall and the University of Maryland was doomed," wrote a Washington Post sports columnist. Edsall can only hope for a better end to his effort to sell his house.
