SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) A former college football player who says his scholarship was not renewed following the 2012 season has filed a federal antitrust lawsuit against the NCAA over its rules that force players to sit out a year after transferring schools and limit the number of scholarships schools can give out.
The lawsuit was filed Thursday on behalf of former Weber State cornerback Devin Pugh in U.S. District Court in Indianapolis, where the NCAA is based.
The NCAA issued a release saying it is aware of ''the specific facts of the plaintiff. However, it appears that many of the allegations are patterned after litigation filed by this lawyer in other cases.'' Among the lawyers filing the lawsuit was Steve Berman of Seattle, Washington, who has brought other cases against the NCAA.
