Auburn has hired Oklahoma coach Sunny Golloway to lead the baseball program.

Athletic director Jay Jacobs announced the hiring Friday night. Golloway spent the last eight seasons as Oklahoma's head coach and led the Sooners to seven NCAA regional berths, four super regionals and the 2010 College World Series.

Golloway cited coaching in the Southeastern Conference and "the history of the Auburn program" as big reasons for the move.

He also led the Oral Roberts program for eight seasons. Golloway has a career record of 681-337-1, including 12 seasons with at least 40 wins.

The Sooners won the Big 12 tournament last season and made it to a super regional. He coached No. 3 draft pick Jonathan Gray.

The Tigers have failed to make a regional for three straight seasons.
