For the third time in four days, Rickie Fowler hit the opening tee shot of the 2013 PGA Tour season.

The high wind that causes two starts to be scrapped since Friday returned early Monday, but this time it began to die as players practiced on the putting green under floodlights. The prospect looked good for the Tournament of Champions to get in 36 holes, with an 18-hole finish on Tuesday.

Even so, there was a feeling of Groundhog Day in paradise.

Jerry King, the golf professional and longtime starter, welcomed the gallery with an "Aloha" and introduced Fowler. For the third time, playing partner Jason Dufner took eight waggles before he teed off.

Webb Simpson started on No. 1 and birdied his first hole.
